As I prepare to step down as Executive Director of the Tri-County Arts Council, I find my heart full of gratitude. It has been an extraordinary honor to be part of this organization and to work alongside a community of vibrant artists, supporters, and advocates of the arts.

Reflecting on my time here, I feel immense pride in the growth and development of TCAC. The expansion to downtown Olean was a pivotal moment, as was the establishment of the expanded clay and print studios and the stunning Peg Bothner Gallery. These spaces have become hubs of creativity and connection, fostering artistic expression throughout our region.

One of the highlights of my time with TCAC was working to create and expand the Ellicottville Fine Art & Craft Market. Collaborating with our talented member artists and artists from across the Tri-County region was an inspiring experience. This market has become a cornerstone event, showcasing the incredible artistic talent in our area and creating opportunities for artists to connect with the community and each other.

The memories of our community coming together for projects like the murals still fill me with pride. Passing by those murals, I’m reminded of the power of art to unite us, inspire us, and leave a lasting legacy. Moments like these are why the TCAC is such an essential part of our community, and I feel privileged to have been part of its story.

I must take a moment to recognize and thank the talented staff, generous donors, and passionate community members. Your dedication has been instrumental in building programs, strengthening connections, and championing the transformative power of the arts. Reflecting on the milestones we’ve achieved together, I am in awe of the creativity and commitment that defines this region.

A special note of thanks goes to the Board of Directors. Your guidance and trust have allowed me to grow not only as a professional but also as an individual. Your support has been invaluable, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve this incredible organization.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of my role has been meeting and working with the artists of all ages represented at TCAC. Witnessing the excitement and pride of young artists like Templeton and Sara during their first gallery show in the TCAC Youth Gallery was especially rewarding. Seeing their opening reception coincide with the “A Little Something” member show, and observing the joy it brought to their families and the community, reminded me why the hard work we do matters so much.

As this chapter of my journey comes to a close, I remain deeply committed to the mission of the Tri-County Arts Council and the vibrant arts scene in our community. I am confident that this organization will continue to thrive and grow, thanks to your unwavering support and the leadership of those who carry its vision forward.

Thank you for the trust, encouragement, and partnership you’ve shared with me during my time here. I leave with a profound sense of gratitude and pride in all that we have achieved together. With heartfelt thanks,

- Paula Bernstein
