Arts Center Announces Programs & Auditions

New SPARK! Programs for Grades K-2 welcomed; Short play series auditions set for March

SPRINGVILLE - Are your children lovers of art and music? Springville Center for the Arts announces two programs, SPARK! & Music SPARK!, both modeled after the Reggio Emilia approach to learning of “process over product.” The goal of each program is to improve overall learning and creative expression through contact with art or through the creation of musical mayhem.

SPARK! embraces and cultivates each child’s individual creativity and spirit. “Our experience of creativity in childhood shapes much of what we do in adulthood,” says SPARK! instructor, Alexandra Simmons. “Throughout the program, we hope to encourage the creative minds of young ones and embrace their curiosity.” SPARK! is geared for ages 2-5 and will meet Friday mornings from 10:00am-noon from January 31st through May 16th.

Music SPARK! is a new program introducing instruments, singing, dancing, and musical exploration. Instructor Sam Yetter will use alternative learning methods such as: Orff-Schulwerk, Kodály, and Dalcroze, all emphasizing rhythm and improvisation to improve and develop children’s inner ear. Kids 3-5 will meet from 9:00am-10:00am on Saturday mornings, while ages 6-8 will meet from 10:00am-11:00am. Music SPARK! will be held on eight Saturdays: February 1st, 8th, 22nd, March 8th, 22nd, April 5th, 19th, and May 3rd.

Springville Center for the Arts will present SPARK! and Music SPARK! at Arts Underground, located at 66 East Main Street in Springville, NY. SPARK! is offered in two 7-class sessions at a cost of $105 or $95 for members. Music SPARK! is 8 classes at a cost of $100 or $90 for members. Prorated pricing and multi-child discounts are available. To register, visit springvillearts.org or call 716-592-9038.
